Golden eagle and bearded vulture observation point

The Klausbachhaus is also called the "Valley of the Eagles" for good reason. Here there is the greatest chance in the entire national park to observe a golden eagle in the wild. Provided, of course, that the weather plays along! Klausbach Valley is home to one of the four pairs of golden eagles in the National Park. Watching them is possible all year round with a bit of luck.

The golden eagle observation station is about 20 minutes' walk from the Hintersee National Park information point ("Klausbachhaus"). From here you have a very good overview of the area. Information boards introduce the "King of the Skies", inform about his way of life, hunting strategies and the long-time monitoring of the Berchtesgaden National Park.

Bearded vulture info point in the Halsgrube

A very special opportunity to observe the two new bearded vulture ladies "Dagmar" and "Recka" at close range, with a little luck, is offered by the bearded vulture info point in the throat pit. Until mid-October, our team will answer all your questions about bearded vultures there daily from 10 am to 4 pm. Of course, only in good weather.

You can reach the Bearded Vulture Info Point in a good 60 minutes walking time from the National Park Info Point Hintersee ("Klausbachhaus") via hiking trail 472 in the direction of Halsalm. This is a hiking trail of the blue category and includes sometimes steep ascents. However, there is no danger of falling.
