The observation and research of ecosystems, their dynamics and especially their biodiversity takes a central role in national park research. Research and monitoring on biodiversity and ecosystem dynamics are carried out in close cooperation with long-term cooperation partners.
Berchtesgaden National Park is working closely with various research institutions and scientists in the field of ecosystems and biodiversity research for many years. There is an intensive cooperation with the Bavarian Forest National Park on various research questions and in a joint biodiversity monitoring. Furthermore, the national park participates in various biodiversity monitoring programs such as the global observation reseach initiative in alpine environments (GLORIA ), the LIFEPLAN program or the LTER insect monitoring of Germany. With regard to mycology there is a cooperation with Prof. Claus Bässler at the Goethe University Frankfurt.
