The forest in the national park was used as a commercial forest for centuries, even at the higher altitudes. Today, it is to gradually become a natural forest again in accordance with the national park motto "Let nature be nature". What such a forest can look like and what measures can be taken to support this change is shown in the small exhibition at the Engert information center.
Daily from 9:00 - 17:00 (May to October).
Admission is free, the information desk is not staffed.
Closed from November to April.
The Engert National Park information point is located on a closed road. You can only get to the information point with the Alm-Erlebnisbus or on foot from the information point Hintersee ("Klausbachhaus") in about 1 hour walking time.
